Chinese New Year Makes | Silhouette Metallic Vinyl

We are about to welcome in the Year of the Rat and I have put together some New Year goodies highlighting Silhouette Metallic Vinyl.

I believe the traditional colours used at Chinese New Year are red and gold.

I used gold cardstock for my base and adapted a banner design (24519) to form a square, cut in Metallic Vinyl and carefully applied to the card.

The negative parts can be used to create another card.

This is sooo cute and is cut from a single sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock. Folded on the score lines, the box easily comes together.

There are 2 additional side panels, added in red with a shiny metallic vinyl red dragon…the symbol for Good Luck.

The gold coins are also a tradition at Chinese New year, mine are made from chocolate.

I made some tiny fortune cookies by cutting circles ‘rolling’ them in half, gluing them together and folding into shape with a tiny sticky foam pad.

Fortunes for inside can be found on the internet, mine needed to be very small!

Making these small boxes was fun and could easily be adapted for other occasions.

The addition of metallic vinyl to a box or card makes them extra special.
