Let’s Make A St Patricks Day Home Decor Sign
Hello and welcome to my new blog. Did you guess what my blog would be?
We are going to create a St Patricks day door hanging!
So get your craft machine out and lets get started.
Craft Materials Used:
• Silhouette Curio (Or a Silhouette or Brother ScanNCut Digital Cutting Machine)
• Cutting Mat (Here we are using the Silhouette Curio Cutting Mat)
• A Wooden Hanging Blank
• Green Glitter Vinyl
• Green Matte Vinyl
• Wood Effect Premium Vinyl
• Ribbon
Step 1: The Wooden Blank
So instead of painting or varnishing the wooden blank, I have decided to cover it with the Silhouette Wood Effect Premium Vinyl. It was very quick and easy and saves waiting for your project to start. You also get a lot on the roll.
Step 2: Choosing The Design & Silhouette Studio
I knew that I wanted to do a hanging plaque and Silhouette has a number of these available in the store. I purchased the St Patrick’s day design and pulled it through to Silhouette Studio, by double clicking from the library.
Step 3: Setting Up The Design To Cut
As I am using 3 different types of Vinyl, I am going to separate my design to cut out different sections in the different vinyl material.
To do this right click and ungroup the file.
Move out each section of the design onto a different part of the mat.
Step 4: Placing Vinyl onto Your Mat & Cutting
Looking at how you have set up the mat, place the vinyl to match the layout.
Once you are happy with the vinyl and placement. Click on the SEND in silhouette studio.
**Please remember that different types of Vinyl has different settings within Silhouette Studio.
Set the material type to the one you are using, I used Glitter Vinyl.
And click SEND
Follow this process for all sections remembering to change your Material in Silhouette Studio.
Once they have all been cut weed the design.
Step 5: Putting Your Plaque Together
Now that you have your pieces and your covered plaque, start placing the vinyl onto the plaque. I always like to have a photo of the design handy so I can refer back to it if needed.
As my design was slightly smaller than my plaque I have cut a few extra clovers to use in the blank spaces, but you could add anything you want here.
I have then added a green ribbon to the top of the plaque and there you go!
