This week the design team are creating with Silhouette Leatherette Sheets.
The theme is St David’s Day which made me think of Daffodils…my favourite flower.
The leatherette Sheets some in 3 colours black, gold and cream…not the obvious choice for daffodils!
I chose the cream one and tried a new technique…painting it with water colours!
I found it easiest to cut the design out first (the image shows the large 3d daffodil) then colour it.
After the leatherette dried (this didn’t take long) I glued it together to form the flower shape.
Creating 3D flowers with leatherette or paper from the designs in store means you can have an everlasting supply of flowers of your choice.
I placed my daffodil amongst some real ones.
I also made a mini leatherette daffodil brooch in the same way as the larger daffodil, cutting, colouring then sticking together.
This would also make a cute hair clip.
I think painting the leatherette sheets worked really well for my St David’s Day Daffs.
I would definitely try this technique again and think maybe some sort of mixed media with gold or silver embossing powder would look great against the black leatherette!
