Personalised Summer T-Shirt
It’s Denise here today.
I can’t believe that summer is now just around the corner!
Today’s Blog is about a T-shirt with a funny sun summer image on it which you could add to any T-shirt.
Materials Used
• Silhouette HTV
• Blank T-Shirt
• Heat Press (An Iron Will Work)
Open Your File
Open your software and once loaded go to your library on the top right-hand side and look for the file we are using and open it up.
Once you have opened it up you will see we need to ungroup it. You do that by right clicking on file and scroll down to ungroup and click on it.
Click anywhere on the design space to let the parts go. Now take all your parts off and keep your main tag on the design space.
I coloured the parts in to make it easier. You can do this by opening the fill panel that looks like a paint pallet.
Cutting Your File
Before you start to cut your parts, on your design space you need to remember to Mirror your image as you are using HTV (heat transfer vinyl).
To do this, right click and flip Horizontally (you really need to do this).
Now, go to the top right hand corner and click on send, this is where all the information is for cutting.
Scroll down and find your media and then (as long log as you are using an AutoBlade) the rest is done for you and press send to cut all of your parts out.
I used my cutting mat just due to me being used to it but you can cut vinyl without your mat if you are using a roll.
Time To Weed
Now to weed your parts which is very easy to do.
Weed (remove) the waste by using your weeding tool or knife / scalpel and keep your file on the clear transfer sheet as this helps to transfer to t-shirt and do this with all the parts then lay them aside.
Using The Heat Press
I used a heat press for this project.
The correct heat setting for the HTV are included on the instruction sheet that comes with the HTV.
I set my press to the correct settings of 150c and time 20seconds.
First, I pre-pressed the T-shirt for 5 seconds, then I started adding the file starting off with the sun.
Once I had pressed it on I peeled off the clear transfer sheet, as we are layering you will need to do this each time you press parts of your file onto t-shirt.
Then it was time for the the main face.
I pressed the black frame glasses and mouth at the same time and then added the grey part of the glasses followed lastly by the white part for the glasses.
Now you have finished your design on your T-shirt, you could even add a name under it if you wanted to personalise it further.
I loved doing this as it certainly makes you feel like summer is here even though my hands are freezing and telling me otherwise right now.
You could use this design on different items by using Adhesive Vinyl also.
