Let’s Get NYE Ready!
New years eve is just around the corner so why not create yourself a sparkly t-shirt to wear and bring in 2023!!
Craft Materials Used:
• Silhouette Curio (Or a Silhouette or Brother ScanNCut Digital Cutting Machine)
• Rhinestone Starter Kit
• Iron or Heatpress
• Black T-Shirt
Step 1: Choosing Your Design
Having looked in the Silhouette design store, I have found a great “new years” design using the Rhinestones, I have also purchased a fireworks design to add to my t shirt. I have purchased and pulled it into Silhouette studio from my library by double clicking on the file.
The design is set up automatically sized for the rhinestones, so remember not to resize.
Step 2: Cutting Time!
Place the template material onto your silhouette mat (it’s the black material)
Click Send.
Change the media type to say “Rhinestone Template Material” and change the blade accordingly.
Click Send. (Your machine will now cut out the design)
Step 3: Create The Template
Weed the design by removing the template material from the backing, or use a weeding tool to remove. Stick the template material onto the backing board.
Step 4: Adding The Rhinestones
Choose which colour rhinestones you want to use and sprinkle them onto the design. Use the brush or a sharp tool and brush the rhinestones so all the holes are filled. The rhinestones need to be gem facing up
Step 5: Creating The Transfer
Once all of the rhinestones are positioned, carefully cover the design with the rhinestone transfer tape.
Step 6: Adding To The T-Shirt
Remove the transfer tape from the backing board and position onto your t shirt.
Place a sheet of baking paper over the design an add heat using a iron or heat press for around 45-60 seconds.
Once the rhinestones have fixed, turn the item inside out and add the heat again for 45-60 seconds. This will pull the glue onto the fabric.
And your rhinestone t shirt is complete and ready to wear
