Let’s Get Paper Crafting
With 1st December just around the corner, why not get your craft paper out and make your own advent calendar?
Craft Materials Used:
• Silhouette Curio (Or a Silhouette or Brother ScanNCut Digital Cutting Machine)
• Colour + Shape Premium PVC Tabletop Cutting Mat
• Silhouette Curio 8 X 12 Mat
• 12 x 12 Christmas Cardstock
• Little Chocolates
• Double Sided Tape or Glue
Step 1: Choosing Your Design
I do love all the amazing things you can make with paper and card so jumped at the chance to create an advent calendar for my little girl.
Having looked in the Silhouette design store, I have chosen to create the 3D Christmas tree advent calendar.
I then pulled it into Silhouette Studio from my library by double clicking on the file.
Step 2: Cutting Your Image
Having opened the file on the mat, it was slightly larger, so whilst the files were still grouped I resized it so the largest piece fit nicely within the cut parameters.
Ungroup the files by right clicking
Have a look at the final design in Silhouette Studio and work out what pieces you want in each design and sort the cut pieces out.
Place the first design of card onto the mat.
Click on the SEND in silhouette studio.
Change material to show: Cardstock, Textured – Heavy (80lb) and change blade accordingly.
Then click SEND.
Cut out each piece of cardstock
Step 3: Putting Your Design Together
Now is the fun part, putting it all together.
Layout all the pieces into piles and make sure you print out the final design to revert back to when putting it together. I was unable to find a YouTube video online to show me how to do it.
Start my making the Christmas tree shape and then add on the little pockets. Finally add the base to the tree.
Make sure that you have plenty of imagination and double sided tape!
